TGBA 17U Performs Well In WWBA 17/18U Tourneys

Team Georgia 17U had impressive back-to-back performances recently in Perfect Game's World Wood Bat tournament, the largest in the nation. Playing in the 18U tournament, the team finished 5th in the country, out of over 200 teams, losing 7-2 to the East Cobb Braves in the quarter-finals. Additionally, they entered the 17U WWBA tournament, competing with over 225 teams from all over the country. TG-17U also made the playoffs in this tournament, and ended with a 11-3 record, including a 9-1 pool play record between the two events. This is the first time in the history of the organization that the 17U team has made the playoffs in both 17U and 18U divisions. Team Georgia 17U was one of only seven teams to qualify for the playoffs in both tournaments. Congratulations to our young men on a great job and representing themselves, and Team Georgia, in a first class manner.

Team Georgia Adds Ladies Softball

softballinhand

We are pleased to announce that TGBA is adding ladies softball to our organization. The official name of our softball program will be TGSA (Team Georgia Softball Academy). The softball website is here.

We have assembled a great team of people to partner with us in this venture. TGSA will be kicking off its inaugural season with tryouts in the Fall of 2011. We will field a limited number of teams in the first season (14U, 16U and 18U) and then expand offerings each year until we have teams in age groups from 8U to 18U. The goal of TGSA will be to field teams that will compete at the highest level of ASA softball and provide development and exposure for our athletes through state and national tournaments as wells as regional and national showcases.

Look for more announcements and details regarding tryouts via email and this website. Please help us in spreading the word to people in the community. If you have any thoughts or ideas or want to contribute in any way, please let us know.

Coach Chris McRaney of Team Georgia Baseball Academy (TGBA) has accepted a position as the Georgia State Coordinator for USA Baseball National Team Identification Series (NTIS), Team Mid-Atlantic.

The USA Baseball NTIS program is designed to identify players from fourteen regions from across the United States.  In September each year three teams (13u, 15u and 17u) from each of the fourteen regions travel to Cary, NC compete against each other, in front of the Team USA staff and coaches as well as college recruiters. Some selections for the USA Baseball National Team Trials are made from this series. Last year, four players from Team Mid-Atlantic were invited to the 40 man national team trials.

USA Baseball is proud to present the Mid Atlantic region of the National Team Identification Series (NTIS). Players from across your region will participate in selection events and tryouts with the aim of being named to the Mid Atlantic's 13U, 15U and 17U teams. The three teams will then ultimately compete in their respective age groups against 12 other regions from across the country in the NTIS, September 9-11, 2011, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. From the NTIS, USA Baseball will invite a minimum of 32 players to future 14U, 16U and 18U National Team Trials opportunities with the ultimate goal of being selected to represent our country as part of Team USA. For more information, see the MidAtlantic NTIS Site.
