August 1, 2011 - Team Georgia 17U had impressive back-to-back performances recently in Perfect Game's World Wood Bat tournament, the largest in the nation. Playing in the 18U tournament, the team finished 5th in the country, out of over 200 teams, losing 7-2 to the East Cobb Braves in the quarter-finals. Additionally, they entered the 17U WWBA tournament, competing with over 225 teams from all over the country. TG-17U also made the playoffs in this tournament, and ended with a 11-3 record, including a 9-1 pool play record between the two events. This is the first time in the history of the organization that the 17U team has made the playoffs in both 17U and 18U divisions. Team Georgia 17U was one of only seven teams to qualify for the playoffs in both tournaments. Congratulations to our young men on a great job and representing themselves, and Team Georgia, in a first class manner.
